Fun Alley

Studio in the City is an annual program that offers youth aged 15 to 19 the opportunity to apprentice in the arts, working on various canvases and landscapes throughout the City of North Vancouver. This program is a partnership between the City of North Vancouver and arts supporters, including Lonsdale Quay Market, Artists for Kids, the Vancouver Biennale, and the Digital Media Academy.

As part of this initiative, I had the privilege of teaching a class of 8 young artists how they could positively impact their community through creation, with a focus on mural and public art projects. Over the course of eight weeks, the students learned valuable skills and techniques, culminating in the final project: a large-scale alleyway mural designed to transform a neglected space into a vibrant and welcoming environment. The mural not only brought the local community together but also became a significant landmark, gaining recognition as one of the most famous mural locations in Vancouver, BC. The project exceeded both the expectations of the local council and the surrounding community, leaving a lasting artistic legacy.
