<div>The Waikerie Silos were painted by two artists, Jimmy D’Vate and Garry Duncan. They were completed in December 2018 and are now the 25th Silos to be completed in the Australian Silo Art Trail.</div><div><br></div><div>For Jimmy D’Vate they are his third Silos, having already completed Goorambat and Rochester,&nbsp; both in the state of Victoria.</div><div>According to Jimmy one side of his silos portrays his pet Yabby named “Nippy”. This type of Yabby can be found in rivers and dams all over Australia but they are listed as vulnerable due to their sensitivity to water health. Also featured on the Yabby side is a little fish called the Murray Hardyhead which is also now an endangered species officially in NSW and threatened in Victoria.</div><div><br></div><div>One the other side of Jimmy silo is a Regent Parrot. Their population had dwindled to as low as 500 in recent years in the Mallee regions of eastern Australia. But did you know that there was another population of Regent Parrots in the Wheatbelt region of South Western Australia. Though pretty similar birds eastern populations are endangered, while the western population is thought to be increasing.</div><div><br></div><div>Garry Duncan’s very colourful Silo depicts a true Murray River Scene. Featuring pelicans, cockies, fish, frogs and so much more.</div>
