Orbain kultur elkartea

Orbain Kultur Elkartea, first association for the study, conservation and dissemination of Punk Rock

Iker Zubia, president, said that «we are born to deepen the cultural, political and social legacy of punk rock in Euskal Herria, to advance its recognition. We are going to work so that Sebastian Iradier or Donnay is recognized as due to Scar, Eskorbuto or the RIP ”

Gasteiz has since yesterday a new cultural association, called Orbain Kultur Elkartea. In the opinion of its members, it is "a breath of fresh air," as its members explain.
Orbain is based in Bruno Villareal Street "where we have been developing our activities for some months", specifically since July. "Since then we have held about 15 concerts, theaters and a talk," they explained.
The objective of this cultural association is “to give a new impulse to the culture in Gasteiz, a new impulse from below, a new impulse from self-management,” explained Ana Andino, a member of the association. “Technically, we have come together to promote the study, conservation and dissemination of punk, rock and alternative music in general. But also of the historical and cultural circumstances that surround them in Euskal Herria ”. Andino stressed that “yes, we are born to study and deepen the cultural, political and social legacy left by bands like Eskorbuto, RIP, or La Polla Records. To continue vibrating with what they left us, Scar, Cock Sparrer, Sex Pistols, Potato or Ramones. Punk Rock but also metal, dead metal or heavy. We are born to continue sowing this seed in Araba, in Euskal Herria and that is why we have created the first cultural association for these purposes. We are born to advance their recognition", he added.
