My girl with the pearl

Mural fest Tirana 2023

It’s my modern interpretation of the famous painting of the Dutch old master ‘Johannes Vermeer’,  ‘Girl with the pearl earring’ from 1665.

There are 2 portraits which are both my mothers face. One when she was 16 years old and one how she looks now at the age of 80 years old. Still a beautiful lady if you ask me. The classic watch tells the passing of time and age. 

So it’s an ode to Vermeer and my mother. The tulips represent Holland. 

We also met the Dutch ambassador in Albania, Reinout Vos and his wife who said this about our mural: “It’s representing the Netherlands while also featuring the journey of life.”

This wall is 11 floors of height.
