Painted at the 2024 Swindon Paint Fest.

I bought this jar randomly from a charity shop over five years ago and for about a year now, it has been sitting in my studio window. Every time the sun shines through the glass, the light projects such an interesting effect inside the jar, casting an abstract painting-like effect on the wall, using light as a medium.

For the past year, I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate glass more often into my work, and since then, I’ve been inspired to explore the unique distortions created by the crystals in this jar. It has been a fun process and an exciting experiment right from the first sketches.
