Pride and Progress

Description

Completed: May 16, 2003

This mural was created for the William Way Center - the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community center for the city. It shows a depiction of a gay pride festival in front of notable landmarks - like the Drake Hotel. Not only does it show the celebration of the progress but the struggle - on the far left is a man holding a poster from the gay right march in 1966. The artist and her team of 15 artists noted that 'one of the wonderful hings about working on the mural was the people who came by daily to give their appreciation and support."
