Colorful Legacy

Completed: November 15, 2015

This mural was inspired by President Obama's nationwide My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge, a new initiative to encourage communication for males of color. The artist worked with EMOC and DBHMS to make this not just a beautiful piece of art but to inspire and give viewers hope by displaying the positive words surrounding the face - like "love" "proud" "truth" and "strong willed." This project, along with others the city took into action, has helped raise awareness of males of color trying to gain access to education/employment and increased access to education/employment and increased access to behavior health services.
