Genealogy of Hope ~ 希望の系譜

"Kuniyoshi Utagawa was reevaluated as an avant-garde painter in the book “Genealogy of a Strange Idea” published in 1970.
This work, based on his “Sanukiin no shitsuzoku wo tamechou wo sukufu,” combines traditional Japanese patterns with BAKI patterns, a fusion of subcultures, and is painted on Yumeshima, overlooking Osaka Bay.
Mural paintings have had a hard time taking root in Japan, but this is changing, especially in Osaka.
From ukiyoe to manga, and from seat paintings to murals. By polishing the rough stones of the night before the opening of Japan, starting with popular art, the world will be able to see something different.
