Jan is de Man created this mural in 2021

The neighbors were asked which of their favorite objects they would like to see displayed in the cabinet.

In the photo frame in the upper left corner is a picture of Joep, a dog from the neighborhood. His owner can see this part of the painting from her apartment. She struggled with depression and decided to take Joep into her home. The dog helped her on her path to recovery.

In the lower left corner there is a cherry picker with a figure that resembles Bob the Builder. This figure represents Jan Heinsbroek himself. Jan is actually afraid of heights, but this tall artwork shows that he has largely managed to overcome that fear. My passion for murals began in 2019. I read a newspaper article about Jan is de Man, who had created a mural in Utrecht. It depicted a bookcase (on Mimosastraat). Local residents had been asked what their favorite book was and whether he could include it on the bookshelf. After my retirement, I started organizing cycling tours past twenty beautiful, large murals in Utrecht, and more recently also in Nieuwegein. It’s great fun to do!
