With this mural, we celebrate the importance of the universal values of human dignity, freedom, equality, and solidarity through the two hundred faces depicted here.
The guiding principle behind the creation of this mural was that what is essential is invisible to the eye. And so, although these values are intangible, they become a living presence in this work through a special play of shadows on the wall.
The portraits themselves are drawn as if they were shadows—a trace, in the deepest sense of the word, as both a warning and a remembrance.
The mural reaches its fullest expression in the evening, when the light of the setting sun casts the living shadows of balconies, residents, and the building’s architecture onto the wall. These interact with the depicted faces, creating an illusion between the real and the unreal, between present and past, between testimony and memory.
