Description
The Eastern Barred Bandicoot became extinct in the wild; its numbers decimated over time by foxes, feral cats and the destruction of habitat.
Churchill Island is one of the predator-protected sites selected by Zoos Victoria to introduce Eastern Barred Bandicoots bred in captivity into the environment. The program has been a success and the numbers are on the increase. Art by @jimmy_dvate at the Heritage Farm.
