Equality for all

In februari 2021 werden meerdere electriciteitskastjes omgevormd tot verborgen juweeltjes onder de naam Chroma-Tourmaline. Een verwijzing naar de edelsteen toermalijn, maar ook naar tour en Maline, de Sint-Romboutstoren en Mechelen.

De Duitse kunstenares Bianca Hinmüller gebruikt haar kunst als een vorm van activisme. Met dit specifieke kunstwerk wil ze ons eraan herinneren dat we allemaal gelijk zijn. De handen, elk met een andere huidskleur, omlijsten een kleurrijk hart. De ontbrekende puzzelstukjes geven aan dat we allemaal deel uitmaken van een groter geheel en dat samenwerking de manier is om vooruit te komen. De wolk van puzzelstukjes symboliseert diversiteit.

Het is geen toeval dat je dit werk naast het RADAR-gebouw vindt, een organisatie die zich inzet om creatief talent te ondersteunen en kansen te bieden aan mensen van alle leeftijden en verschillende achtergronden. Hier kijken mensen niet naar de verschillen, maar naar wat ze gemeen hebben. Iets wat Bianca met haar kunstwerk wil benadrukken.

In February 2021, several electricity boxes transformed into hidden gems under the name Chroma-Tourmaline. A reference to the gemstone tourmaline, but also to tour and Maline, St Rombout's Tower and Mechelen.

The German artist Bianca Hinmüller  uses her art as a form of activism. With this particular piece, she wants to remind us that we are all equal. The hands, each with a different skin color, frame a colorful heart. The puzzle pieces that are missing, signify how we are all part of a greater whole, and the way to move forward is to work together. The cloud of puzzle pieces symbolizes diversity.

It is no coincidence that you will find this work next to the RADAR building, which is an organization committed to supporting creative talent and providing opportunities for people of all ages and different backgrounds. Here, people do not look at the differences, but atwhat they have in common. Something that Bianca wants to emphasize with her artwork.
