The art of Yuri Catania has landed on the shores of Lake Maggiore in Ascona with an epic exhibition of 40 installations that can be visited outdoors starting from June 20th, the first day of the JazzAscona festival, and will reach its climax in the halls of the Municipal Museum of Modern Art Ascona with a photographic exhibition titled "Jazz Off The Wall - New Orleans Journey".
This is an artistic project created to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of JazzAscona with the broader aim of engaging the community through participation in the work alongside the artist and to bring people to visit the Village, attract tourists, and connect an intergenerational audience to street art.
It took fifteen days of work and the monumental work was completed on the facade of the Popular Library on the lakeside with over 1000 photographs of flowers and plants glued that adorn the giant-sized photographic portraits of eight well-known musicians, baby dolls, performers, and chefs from the artistic scene of New Orleans.
Bringing beauty to city centers through gentle street art, thus with works of their ephemeral character, is one of the intrinsic values of Catania's art which has proven to create community and make people stop on the streets again to observe, wonder, and be amazed at what a work made of paper and glue can do.
The facade of the Library was covered for over 50% equivalent to about 60sq meters with paper for a work total size of 7 meters in height and 17 meters in width.
