Description
Une fresque en hommage aux 42 mineurs tués lors de la catastrophe de Liévin en 1974 a été dévoilée dimanche devant l'église Saint-Amé. Réalisée par l'artiste Rouge Hartley, l'œuvre met en scène des enfants, une couronne, un chevalement, des briques et un casque de mineur. La fresque a été réalisée dans le cadre du 50e anniversaire de l'événement tragique. La ville a commandé l'œuvre par l'intermédiaire de l'association Run.da.ART, qui promeut le street art dans le bassin minier. Des élèves de l'école Léo-Lagrange, située à proximité, ont activement participé au projet dans le cadre d'une démarche pédagogique, et certaines de leurs contributions sont visibles dans l'œuvre finale.

A fresco honoring the 42 miners killed in the Liévin disaster of 1974 was unveiled on Sunday in front of Saint-Amé Church. Painted by artist Rouge Hartley, the artwork features elements like children, a wreath, a headframe, bricks, and a miner's helmet. The mural was created as part of the 50th anniversary of the tragic event. The city commissioned the work through the association Run.da.ART, which promotes street art in the mining region. Students from nearby Léo-Lagrange school were actively involved in the project as part of an educational initiative, and some of their contributions can be seen in the final piece.
