How the Finch Got Her Colours

For Artscape Saga 2019.
In the beginning of time, all the birds were grey, but this Flemish folktale explains how they received their beautiful colours. 
One day, the bird king gathered all the birds of the world and awarded them each a colour from the rainbow. All the birds wanted the most beautiful colour for themselves and pushed and shoved to be first. After all the birds had been handed a colour each and the commotion had ended the king noticed that the Finch hadn’t asked for a colour and was still gray. The king was very impressed and rewarded her one of each colour - as the Finch had been so kind and patient and waited for her turn.
