Slow Life

Veilig9040 is a new project that wants to create awareness for safer traffic in this busy area.

This is what Gijs Vanhee himself said about this mural:
“Slow down. Life is crossing the road.” — Debasish Mridha
By creating this mural in Ghent my aim was to shed light on the dangerous traffic conditions at this specific location. A lot of kids run around this neighbourhood, sharing the streets with cars and buses. While painting, I could witness more than one close call because drivers were not patient. Not long ago three kids were hit by cars in different events on the same day. This works pays homage to Yagmur, Ferre and Esila who are still suffering the consequences of this today. Let's make the streets safer for all the kids.

A project supported by Wallin' vzw.
