De Maagd

A small but precious work titled 'The Virgin', not by a traditional graffiti or mural artist. Michael Borremans is a famous contemporary painter from Ghent, his paintings can be found in important museums all over the world.
For his home town he decided to make this mural as a gift. His signature can be found (but you cannot see it) at the back side of this wall.

A small story about this mural: in 2016 a bird left some traces on the work. Someone received the order to clean this, but he also cleaned the brushstrokes that were places just besides the portrait and that were part of the mural. And so Borremans discovered that making works for the street is not the same as for a museum.
