Simple Acrobatics

Artwork created for the Cheltenham Paint Festival in 2024.

Artez is a Serbian artist with a style that is halfway between photorealism and illustration. His main source of inspiration is the reality that surrounds him: starting from a photograph, the artist begins to create a drawing that in the end is completely detached from the image chosen at the beginning.
After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade in 2013, Artez began his career in the street scene and started from the choice of the name. In the beginning he started to tag himself with ART, but the name didn’t sound too good, there were too many people using the same combination of letters. After some time, he decided to add Z at the end, probably under the influence of his friend Bantu, the one who introduced him to graffiti and, at that time, wrote “Skillz”.
Artez has been influenced by many different artists over the years and his style continues to change constantly over time.
