'Diversity: the union as more than the sum of its parts' is a mural located in Rue Haute 353 , Brussels that commemorates the 20th anniversary of same sex marriage in Belgium. This mosaic invokes the idea that each individual piece, with the diversity that characterizes them, comes together to form a larger entity. The intention is to represent the very essence of diversity and freedom of choice in human relationships. To do this, the mural shows a portrait that does not define a particular gender so in which anyone can identify, including everyone. This artwork seeks to commemorate a historical milestone as well as serve as a reminder of the inclusion and equality that we must all defend. Each individual, each piece is a fundamental part in the formation of a society. Each free union and bonds formed contribute to the creation of a unified and diverse community. This Mural is not only an artistic testimony, but also a visual reminder of how diversity, when fused, gives rise to a collective strength that enhances the individual.
