Created for the 3rd edition of 'the Bridges Street Art Festival', theme for this edition: 'Craftmanship and cultural legacy of Bruges'

De derde editie is meteen ook het sluitstuk van het project. Daarmee toonde Wietse dat ook in een historische stad als Brugge hedendaagse kunst zijn plaats heeft. “Streetart is een heel toegankelijke kunstvorm, een wereldfenomeen waarbij gebouwen onder handen genomen worden door kunstenaars met diverse stijlen”, zegt de kunstnaar. “Brugge is altijd een kunststad geweest. Hedendaagse streetart gaat dan ook hand in hand met de rijke cultuurgeschiedenis van de stad.”

"Het thema van dit jaar was ‘ambachten’, en aangezien de muur van een bakkerij is, heb ik het ambacht van bakken – en dan vooral kneden – als onderwerp gekozen. Geïnspireerd door de oude Vlaamse meesters, gebruikte ik traditionele penselen om een ​​handgemaakte toets toe te voegen.": vertelt Smok

The third edition is also the final part of the project. Wietse thus showed that contemporary art also has its place in a historic city like Bruges. “Street art is a very accessible art form, a world phenomenon in which buildings are tackled by artists with various styles,” says the artist. “Bruges has always been a city of art. Contemporary street art goes hand in hand with the rich cultural history of the city.”

"This year's theme was 'crafts', and since the wall belongs to a bakery, I chose the craft of baking – and especially kneading – as the subject. Inspired by the old Flemish masters, I used traditional brushes to create a ​to add a handmade touch.": says Smok
