Odessa Catacombs

Apl315 is a artist from ukraine and painted this Mural in 2023.

On his instram page (@apl315_) is written about that artwork:
"The mural is a tribute to the mysterious past of the so-called “Odessa Catacombs”, an approximately 2,500-kilometer-long tunnel system used for limestone mining. Apl315 uses mathematical equations, figurative drawings from the everyday world of the time, and humorous illustrations that surely contributed to the general amusement during the intermission he found there. The collage also ties in with the history of the Prenzlauer Berg district as a working-class neighborhood.

Apl315 combines the sooty black of the charcoal drawings with a hue that, on the one hand, refers to the brewery and industrial buildings in the neighborhood built with yellow brick and, on the other, picks up on the color of the older subway trains that still occasionally run over the viaduct of the U2 line along Schönhauser Allee."
