Marinehallen – The Project

A StreetArt Bergen Project.

It started based on a long relationship, back to SKUR 14 (2019) when Andre Hellesøy and us met. Times turned and him and his friend Svein Olav Høysæther and Tommy Moe were taking on a project of turning an old warehouse into a venue hall. This was like Spring 2022.

We met and it was huge. It was agreed how and what was needed – and we took off, calling on the street and urban art community in Bergen. Forty-two them turned up, some came traveling in and we “went ballistic”.

Long and high the walls were so we needed lifts which our friends at Naboen Utleie Bergen provided. The walls were divided into two levels. Between the girders we made sets of construction boards big enough for pieces – each holding 3 boards erected becoming “canvases” of 2,4 m high and 3,6 m long. Thereby having two racks high with “canvases”.

It was also decided that center stage could hold a huge piece. This “canvas” was constructed out of plywood. An awesome 5,8 m tall and 3,6 m wide canvas. This holds the two Gypsies.

Since the Gypsies needed to be finished prior to building the stage, Sorry and Pyritt started ahead of the rest. The rest of the bunch moved in on Friday and we “lived” there until Sunday. We covered a lot. When we left that weekend there were still spaces and spots which we did as time passed. Continuous adding stuff until … there is no space free. Even the “John” was done.

It turned out Grande and soon earned the nick name “Gatekunst Katedralen i Bergen” (i.e. Street and urban art Cathedral of Bergen). It then became THE venue place in Bergen. A warehouse filled to the brink with awesome paintjobs from floor to ceiling. When walls were done - the tables went

It’s one of them project where people can say “I was there”.

Huge shout-out to all who added flavor to this spot.
