A 10-metre-long mural shows the props used by painters over the past 100 years. To make the artwork look as good as possible, the artists borrowed these from the painting museum. They took detail photos which they then used for the design. Each object has its own technical difficulty. Indeed, reflections in chrome are painted very differently from a fabric expression of wood.The artists first drew the design and then applied the classic method of old masters. In that, you first apply grey and brown to shadow and light. And only then you add colours. The whole wall is painted ‘old school’ by brush. There is no spray can involved.

Painting company Koevoets owns the property and  immediately became enthusiastic about the idea of a mural. Artist Diego Terroba, who in daily life is a teacher of decorative painting in Utrech: ‘This Koevoets building is the most beautiful location. I come from this neighbourhood myself and you can't miss this wall when you enter the city of Bergen op Zoom. It's so cool that we got to do this, we cannot think of a better start for street art in this city. The painting company is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. So how nice is it to use that as a starting point?'

Een muurschildering van 10 meter lang laat de rekwisieten zien die schilders de afgelopen 100 jaar hebben gebruikt. Om het kunstwerk er zo goed mogelijk uit te laten zien, leenden de kunstenaars deze van het schildersmuseum. Ze maakten detailfoto's die ze vervolgens gebruikten voor het ontwerp. Elk object heeft zijn eigen technische moeilijkheid. Reflecties in chroom worden nl heel anders geschilderd dan een stofuitdrukking van hout. De kunstenaars hebben eerst het ontwerp getekend en daarna de klassieke methode van oude meesters toegepast. Daarin pas je eerst grijs en bruin toe op schaduw en licht. En pas daarna voeg je kleur toe. De hele muur is 'old school' met de kwast geschilderd. Er is geen spuitbus aan te pas gekomen.

Schildersbedrijf Koevoets is eigenaar van het pand en was meteen enthousiast over het idee van een muurschildering. Kunstenaar Diego Terroba (in het dagelijks leven docent decoratief schilderen in Utrech): 'Dit pand van Koevoets is de mooiste locatie. Ik kom zelf uit deze buurt en je kunt deze muur niet missen als je Bergen op Zoom binnenrijdt. Het is zo gaaf dat we dit mogen doen, er is geen betere start voor street art in deze stad. Het schildersbedrijf bestaat dit jaar 100 jaar. Dus hoe leuk is het om dat als uitgangspunt te gebruiken?'
