Mono No Aware II

This mural was site-specifically created after Mick La Rock became inspired by the dancing light reflections of the sun on the moving water in the canal under this bridge. La Rock once started out as a style writing graffiti artist. She continued to develop her style. For this work she made a geometrical composition with black lines that refer to traditional graffiti and old Japanese drawings of waves of water. 'Mono No Aware' is a Japanese expression about the awareness that everything that is ephemeral contains a certain beauty. It also refers to streetart and graffiti, art disciplines that are extremely ephemeral.
