<div>The art of portraiture has no more secrets for Hendrik Beikirch alias ECB. Fall in love with graffiti when he discovered a photo of New York in the 80s on which a subway car is covered with Lee's “Stop The Bomb” graffiti Quinones, he finds in “graffiti” a new form of expression and freedom. Influenced by Richard Serra's relationship to space and realism as much as Gerhard Richter's abstraction, the German artist delivers authentic or imaginary portraits that make up so many mirrors of society. These characters, made all the more fascinating by their anonymity, the reduced color palette and the striking contrasts that characterize his style, underline the vulnerability of the man, while the scale of these works invites the viewer to consider the relationship. which binds the individual to society. Their looks and postures tell a story. <div>It's a huge wall painted by Hendrik Beikirch (DE) for the Rose Béton event in 2016. The portrait makes part of "Tracing Morocco" project with foundation Montresso. Hendrik Beikirch has produced 22 portraits of Moroccans in Marrakech. He painted these faces on the walls of many cities : New York Cities, Oslo, Rome, Toulouse, ... <div>german artist hendrik beikirch, also known by his alias “ecb”, creates eye-catching works of documentary and fictional portraiture that traverse the personal and the private. his distinctive monochromatic wall murals and interior works for galleries and museums confront viewers with richly storied subjects that fascinate through their sheer force of personality. at once anonymous, quotidian and enchanting in appearance – each of beikirch’s figures has a story to tell. more than mere subjects, we find in his works genuine characters, made all the more fascinating by their anonymity. the reduced color palette and striking contrasts that characterize beikirch’s portraiture underscore the vulnerability of his subjects, while the scale of these works invites viewers to consider the relationship between individual and society, viewer and subject, public and private.<br>Hendrik participated in 2015, first edition of Metropolink.<br>The portrait painted in Heidelberg shows a morrocan butcher. The production of this art-work was maximum complicated, therefore it makes us even prouder having it in our city!</div>

<div>In 2016 "Vera" was painted within the project Stadt.Wand.Kunst.&nbsp;<br><br>Hendrik Beikirch, his artist name is EBC, was born 1974 in Kassel, Germany. He started spraying in 1989 and later studied "Art Education" in Koblenz. Since the 90th he is very popular in the Graffiti and Streetart scene. His Murals impress by giant dimensions, extraordinary expressions and socially critical themes.</div>

Hendrik ecb Beikirch is well known for his brilliant black and white portraits painted either on canvas or on large buildings. His highly poetic portraits often depict people from the immediate neighborhood appearing strange and familiar at the same time. Even though dedicated to a meticulous realism, he sometimes likes to distort his portraits by either stretching or compressing them. Moreover, the dripping technique, making single paint drops to run down, is a distinctive feature of many of his works. Yet even these alienating effects may not curtail their realist intensity in any sense.&nbsp; Increasingly, his works in public space take on an almost utopian scale turning the painting process into a bold venture.
