Mathias Mendez, also known as BEBAR, is a contemporary French painter born in 1993 in Vitry-sur-Seine. Influenced by his French-Spanish heritage, he developed a passion for drawing from an early age, the only outlet capable of channeling his hyperactivity. He painted his first mural in 2010 and soon joined the MAC Crew, organizers of Kosmopolite, the first international graffiti festival in France. BEBAR navigates between urban art and academic training, having studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and Parsons School of Design in New York. This ongoing duality gave rise to a unique style : both figurative and abstract, in constant evolution. Renowned for his colorful neo-muralism in the streets of Paris, Montreal, and New York, BEBAR aims to “offer viewers a moment of escape.” Today, he works between France and the United States, continuously pushing the boundaries of his pictorial universe.
