Selon l’Inventaire suisse d’architecture, l’immeuble sis au numéro 6 de la rue du Pont a été construit en 1825, dans le but de créer une maison d’éducation.
Dès 1848, il abrite l’imprimerie Courvoisier, la première des Montagnes neuchâteloises, où est imprimée la Feuille d’Avis des Montagnes, premier journal des Montagnes neuchâteloises, fondé en 1806.
L’écrivaine locloise T. Combe a vécu dans cet immeuble de 1878 à 1897.
Ce bâtiment ayant abrité des activités toutes liées à l’écriture, Ben Johnston, un muraliste connu mondialement pour ses fresques basées sur des jeux typographiques, était l’artiste idéal pour réaliser une peinture murale sur le passé historique de cette maison.

According to the Swiss Inventory of Architecture, the building at 6 Rue du Pont was built in 1825 to serve as a school.
Starting in 1848, it became home to the Courvoisier printing press, the first in the Neuchâtel Mountains, where the Feuille d’Avis des Montagnes—the region’s very first newspaper, founded in 1806—was printed.
The writer T. Combe, originally from Le Locle, lived here between 1878 and 1897.
Because this building has always been connected to writing, Ben Johnston, a world-renowned muralist famous for his typographic frescoes, was the perfect choice to create a mural celebrating its history.
