Leuven kreeg er een nieuwe muurschildering bij op de gevel van woonzorgcentrum Edouard Remy. 'Zijn grote liefde' is een werk van kunstenaarscollectief Treepack naar een ontwerp van hun creatief directeur Sam Billen, in samenwerking met Caroline Goossens. De muurschildering werd aangebracht door Hoodo.

De mural toont een intieme kus tussen een koppel, waarbij de vrouw opvallend groter is dan de man, een krachtig symbool voor liefde, identiteit en het doorbreken van maatschappelijke normen. Het kunstwerk verwijst naar het vergeten Belgische fenomeen waarbij meisjes vanaf de jaren 1950 groeiremmers kregen toegediend om kleiner en zogezegd ‘vrouwelijker’ te blijven.

Goossens, die dit zelf meemaakte, wil met het project bewustwording creëren rond de impact van dit beleid op vrouwen en hun zelfbeeld.
