"Don't give racism a chance"
This work was originally created by Ro Heilbron in 1988 for the anti-facism/raism committee. After being moved to an other location earlier, the widow of Heilbron wanted the work to be restored and placed back in the original location. The work, however, was damaged beyond repair. A reconstruction was made by Opperclaes and Erico Smit, who had already restored an other work of Heilbron the year before. After completion it was installed at it's original location in the neighborhood where Heilbron lived for many years.

Dit werk werd oorspronkelijk geschilderd door Ro Heilbron in 1988 voor het Anti-Fascisme/Racisme Komitee. Nadat het eerder naar een andere locatie was verhuisd, wilde de weduwe van Heilbron graag dat het werk gerestaureerd werd en terug op de originele locatie werd geplaatst. Het werk was echter te zeer beschadigd. Er werd een reconstructie gemaakt door Opperclaes en Erico Smit, die een jaar eerder al een ander werk van Heilbron hadden gerestaureerd. Toen het gereed was werd het werk terug geplaatst op de originele locatie in de wijk waar Heilbron jarenlang gewoond heeft.

This mural of a traditional Surinamese hut was created in 1980. The painting was part of a project to create more color in the city, as a reaction to the greyness that was ever present. This mural was created together with the painting of 8 Surinamese women next to it.

In 2023 the mural was restored by design agency Opperclaes. This was the year that 150 years of colonial history and slavery was remembered in the Netherlands. Second part of this project was the creation of three new murals just a couple of arches away.

Het kunstwerk van een traditionele Surinaamse plaggenhut is gemaakt in 1980. De schildering was onderdeel van een project om meer kleur in de stad te brengen, als reactie op de overal aanwezige grauwheid. Deze muurschildering is tegelijk gecreëerd met de schildering van de 8 Surinaamse vrouwen er direct naast.

In 2023 is het kunstwerk gerestaureerd door ontwerpbureau Opperclaes. In dit jaar werd 150 jaar koloniaal- en slavernij verleden herdacht in Nederland. Het tweede deel van dit project was het toevoegen van nog drie muurschilderingen op slechts enkele bogen afstand.
