In honour of 200 years of mining in Limburg the local history association 'De Veersjprunk' proposed an artwork to depict these defining years. Herman Veltrop was assigned to create this work in cooperation with the local school in Merkelbeek. The piece itself represents several symbols of the mines of Limburg.
