Childhood's Bridge

Dany Laferrière, the enigma of the return

Based on a photo taken by Bruno D'Alimonte in 1989 in the streets of old Lille, this image imposed itself directly on me. The urge to create a “bridge child” as a symbol. The childhood that creates links between people, between different worlds. The children who so often lead us to raise our heads and observe things we no longer see, pressed by life and its infernal rhythm. Slow down, stop and contemplate.

This child balancing between two walls (who must be my age today) imagines and sends color with his hands, his heart and his head. The silhouettes are the work of several students from the Institut de la Sainte-Famille d'Helmet as well as other children. Thanks to them.

"Ten years ago almost to the day I made my first exhibition on ceramics with stencils that were 30cm2. Finishing this 300m2 fresco by building the largest stencil ever cut was a real challenge. This fresco located on the communal square of La Louvière will be part of a Vhello route to discover the city with other murals." shares the artist
