Institute of Marine Research Matre – The project

A StreetArt Bergen Project.

Started off with an acquaintance heading Institute of Marine Research in Bergen contacted asking if it was possible to paint two large tanks at their Research station in Matre. Sure can. Just have to find out which expression and artist they wanted. They quick fell down on Sedin Zunic as the artist they wanted. A deal was struck and Sedin arrived in Matre mid august 2021.

It’s quite an awesome project where the mural consisting of two water tanks, each aprox. 350m2. It was agreed that front sides of the tanks to be painted.

The mural is a gift to the research station at Matre from Havforskninga (head office) in connection with Research station at Matre turning 50 years.

If you visit the place, be sure to bring your salt water fishing gear. It’s one of the few places you can catch salmon year around.
