Cain’s Good Morning Mural

Description

The mural depicts Cain, an Australina cattle dog who became something of a local celebrity in New Brighton and across the Wirral.

Cain was rehomed by Tracey Rennie in 2018. During the COVID lockdowns, Tracey began posting photographs of Cain on his morning walks around the Wirral, usually accompanied by a simple “Good Morning”. These posts became a familiar daily ritual for thousands of people, with Cain often photographed against recognisable local scenery.

Cain died in January 2026, aged 13, after suffering from lymphoma. His death prompted an unusually strong community response, because although many people had never actually met him, they felt that they knew him through those daily photographs.
