Created by British contemporary sculptor Schoony (Tristan Schoonraad), this striking 3D installation features a hyper-realistic depiction of a child emerging directly from the brickwork. The figure is clad in oversized military gear and a helmet, cast in a vibrant, uniform electric blue acrylic finish.
The piece was commissioned by the local council as part of the Surrey Street regeneration project. It functions as a powerful, politically charged anti-war statement that critiques contemporary society's detachment from warfare while spotlighting the ongoing global tragedy of child soldiers. The iconic imagery originally debuted as a life-sized protest installation outside the Houses of Parliament in 2008.
