The Robin Hood of Medicine, Dr Creighton Hutchinson

Description

Four large, exterior murals on a tall concrete bridge pier under the Silver Jubilee Bridge (the old Runcorn/Widnes Bridge) West Bank, Widnes

The front, facing Parsonage Road uses the drainpipe to create a faux Victorian street lamp effect with horse and cart scene behind, the rear shows a close up emotional moment. One side has a giant green feather with scroll, combining the shape of the medical symbol with Robin Hood. The other side has a vintage style stethoscope with heart graphic.

The subject is local doctor, Creighton Hutchinson who treated the poor for free and charged the rich. His horse used to be stabled under the railway arch a few metres away, a hundred years ago.

There is a navi lens code on the art with audio description for blind people.
