In March 2025, during the FLARE Ōtautahi Street Art Festival in Christchurch, New Zealand, artist Jacob Yikes (Jacob Ryan) completed the country's tallest mural. This impressive 53-meter-high artwork adorns the side of the Distinction Christchurch Hotel. The mural's creation involved approximately 300 liters of architectural paint and 350 cans of spray paint, taking three and a half weeks to finish. Jacob Yikes, a self-taught muralist with roots in graffiti, has been a significant figure in Christchurch's street art scene, especially in the post-earthquake revitalization efforts. He prefers his works to be open to interpretation, allowing viewers to derive their own meanings.
