Friendly hero...

Description

These three Friendly Heroes by Mr Kubus are situated on a wall alongside the railway line at Allen Gardens. The figures, each with a heart on their chest, are Mr Kubus’s signature characters. The Utrecht-based illustrator and street artist has been creating murals and graffiti for 16 years. For years, he searched for a simple, distinctive style of his own. At the end of 2019, the Friendly Hero was born. It is a minimalist figure, often green or pink, with a striking, light-coloured heart on its chest

As he himself says: “The idea behind the character quickly crystallised into bringing a smile to the viewer’s face. My personal aim is to highlight all strata of society, with a message of balanced identity: yin and yang, good and evil, and the grey areas.”

This mural was created in August 2026, when Mr Kubus visited the United Kingdom.
