Street Art Cities

Iota maakte deze muurschildering voor Abstract Session 3, op 7 en 8 februari in het Urban Art Center in Vorst. Het festival stond in het teken van de 40ste verjaardag van de toonaangevende Brusselse street artiest Eyes-B.

Van kindsbeen af aangetrokken tot elke vorm van artistieke expressie, richt Iota a.k.a. Elisa Morlet zich tot de teken- en schilderkunst en vindt er al snel haar favoriete thema: het portret. Het onder de knie krijgen van uiteenlopende technieken stelt haar in de loop der jaren in staat om er een meer persoonlijke vorm van te verkennen en te ontwikkelen.
De insteek om het portret te behandelen van binnenuit, vanuit een beweging, een gelaatsuitdrukking of een emotie, is kenmerkend voor haar werk. Daarbij tracht ze zo veel mogelijk abstractie te maken van een welomlijnd gezicht, om de toeschouwer ertoe te brengen zich met haar werken te identificeren en haar werken aan te voelen.

Iota a réalisé cette fresque murale pour Abstract Session 3, les 7 et 8 février à l'Urban Art Center de Forest. Le festival était consacré au 40e anniversaire du célèbre street artist bruxellois Eyes-B.

Attirée depuis son enfance par toutes les formes d'expression artistique, Iota, alias Elisa Morlet, se tourne vers le dessin et la peinture et trouve rapidement son thème de prédilection : le portrait. Au fil des ans, la maîtrise de diverses techniques lui permet d'explorer et de développer une forme plus personnelle.
Son approche du portrait, qu'elle traite de l'intérieur, à partir d'un mouvement, d'une expression faciale ou d'une émotion, est caractéristique de son travail. Elle s'efforce ainsi d'abstraire autant que possible un visage bien défini, afin d'amener le spectateur à s'identifier à ses œuvres et à les ressentir.

Attracted to all forms of artistic expression since childhood, Iota, aka Elisa Morlet, turned to drawing and painting and quickly found her favourite theme: the portrait. Over the years, mastering a variety of techniques has enabled her to explore and develop a more personal form of expression.
Her approach to portraiture from the inside out, based on movement, facial expression or emotion, is characteristic of her work. In doing so, she attempts to abstract as much as possible from a clearly defined face, in order to encourage the viewer to identify with and feel her works.
