This little green figure with a heart in its chest is a signature character of Mr. Kubus, the ‘Friendly Hero’. The Utrecht-based illustrator and Dutch street artist MRKUBUS has been creating murals and graffiti for 16 years. The first version of the ‘Friendly Hero’ character was created in 2019. “The idea behind the character quickly crystallised into bringing a smile to the viewer’s face. My personal aim is to highlight all levels of society, with a message of balanced identity: Yin and Yang, the good and the bad, and the grey areas.” Further along in the Southbank Skatepark, another, pink, Friendly Hero can be seen.
