À Calais, Vinnie peint son personnage fétiche : une petite fille au visage poétique et intemporel, sans âge, dans laquelle chacun peut se reconnaître. Située face à une aire de jeux fréquentée par les enfants du quartier pendant les vacances, la fresque déploie une explosion de couleurs, en particulier dans la chevelure du personnage, où certains voient des ballons, d'autres des éclats de peinture. Un clin d'œil à la dentelle, savoir-faire local, s'est glissé dans la composition. "J'essaye d'avoir un message positif et universel avec ce personnage", confie l'artiste, pour qui la petite fille tendant une fleur aux passants incarne aussi un symbole discret : celui d'une femme qui peint sur les façades, un métier encore trop souvent associé aux hommes.

In Calais, Vinie paints her signature character: a little girl with a poetic, timeless face, ageless, someone anyone can recognise themselves in. Facing a playground popular with local children during the holidays, the mural bursts with colour, particularly in the character's hair, where some see balloons and others see splashes of paint. A nod to lace, a local craft, has slipped into the composition. "I try to give this character a positive, universal message," says the artist, for whom the little girl holding out a flower to passers-by also carries a quiet symbol: that of a woman painting on facades, a trade still too often associated with men.
