Lighthouse Ameland

In 2016 the isle of Ameland wanted to create special attention to year yearly art festival. Their red and white striped lighthouse needed a restauration job, and this made it possible to temporarily change its appearance. The lighthouse has a monumental status. Therefore it normally cannot have its appearance changed by law. But this time it was temporarily possible.

My design was the winning design, and so I saw myself painting a 55 meter high lighthouse in a cherrypicker. Such an adventure! In 3 weeks time the job was done. I kept some of the red and white, but added ocean blue, with whales, seals and divers swimming around. After the festival, that lasted a month, the lighthouse was restaurated and brought back to its original colors.
