Tisíc jeřábů (A Thousand Cranes)

Description

This mural, painted on the oncology building, is inspired by the Japanese legend of a thousand paper cranes (senbazuru), which says that if someone folds a thousand cranes, their wish will come true—a story linked to Sadako Sasaki, a young girl from Hiroshima who became ill after the atomic bombing. The girl in the painting was modeled on the artist’s own daughter, and the mural is ToyBox’s personal dedication to her children and the next generation, wishing them health and happiness.

The artwork for the 2025 Brno Art Open was originally a poster of the same size applied to this wall, which was destroyed due to weather conditions, leading to the creation of this permanent mural.
