Description

The mural at 261 Camden High Street was designed by Dirty Pote (the artist name of Valentin Pujadas), a well-known French illustrator and art director based in Paris. He is known for his distinctive, playful ‘pop’ style, full of dynamic characters and vibrant colours.

The commission originally came from an optician’s: each character therefore wears glasses and is engaged in an activity that matches the glasses they are wearing, such as cycling, reading a book or working on a laptop. The aim was to create a cheerful world that stands out amidst the bustling streets of Camden Town. The mural was painted in March an April 2023, just before the shop’s official opening. A year and a half later, the shop had already closed, but the cheerful mural remains an eye-catcher on Camden High Street.
