Shining Bright: A Mural for Trans Visibility in Dordrecht

On Monday, March 31st 2025, Dordrecht proudly celebrated Transgender Day of Visibility with a bold and beautiful statement, a vibrant mural honoring the power of being seen. Created by artist Jahi Quasim Reeberg, the artwork now lights up Waterhoenstraat, symbolizing acceptance, pride and the rich spectrum of gender identity.

The day kicked off with a colorful flag parade from City Hall, followed by spoken word performances, an open mic and a hands-on community art moment. Guests of all ages were invited to add their voice using chalk in the colors of the trans flag, decorating the path around the mural.

A powerful speech by city councillor Chris van Benschop, who officially unveiled the mural, was one of the highlights. The event pulsed with creativity, connection, and celebration. A collaboration between the city of Dordrecht and local organizations dedicated to inclusion and visibility.

This mural is more than art. It’s a message: you belong, you matter and you are seen.

Hi, I’m Esther. I have always been drawn to the vibrant and dynamic world of urban creativity. My true love lies in hunting for remarkable street art pieces and sharing them with the world and fellow enthusiasts. What fascinates me the most about street art is its large dimensions. I like big walls, and I cannot lie ;) The magic of street art lies in its ability to surprise and inspire people in their everyday surroundings, it transforms public spaces into accessible galleries for everyone!
