Memoria dulce

This mural depicts an important part of Torrox's history, when sugarcane cultivation and harvesting were integral to the lives and work of many families in the town.

From right to left, you can see the Sugar Mill Tower, a man representing the former sugarcane workers, and hands harvesting the cane. On the left side, two old photographs are juxtaposed: a view of the town with the street leading up to the old slaughterhouse, where the mural is located, and an image of the Upper Sugar Mill of Our Lady of the Conception.

The different scenes are separated by the silhouette of a sugarcane stalk that runs throughout the composition. The mural is painted entirely with spray paint in shades of gray, giving it the elegant, vintage feel of photographs from another era.

The artwork is located on Calzada Street, precisely where the Torrox slaughterhouse once stood.

Este mural representa una parte importante de la historia de Torrox, cuando el cultivo y la recogida de la caña de azúcar formaban parte de la vida y del trabajo de muchas familias del pueblo.

De derecha a izquierda se puede ver la Torre del Ingenio, un hombre que representa a los antiguos trabajadores de la caña y unas manos durante su recogida. En la parte izquierda se unen dos fotografías antiguas: una vista del pueblo con la calle que sube hasta el antiguo matadero, lugar donde se encuentra el mural, y una imagen del Ingenio Alto de Nuestra Señora de la Concepción.

Las diferentes escenas están separadas por la silueta de una caña de azúcar que recorre toda la composición. El mural está pintado completamente con sprays y en tonos grises, para darle ese aire elegante y antiguo de las fotografías de otra época.

La obra se encuentra en la calle Calzada, justo en el lugar donde antiguamente estaba el matadero de Torrox.
