This mural was commissioned by the Diocesan Migrant and Refugee Services in 2022. "The idea behind it was to remind people of how welcoming of a community we are and try to create some positivity, especially towards immigrants and remind everybody about the beauty that they bring to our community," said Melissa Lopez, Executive Director ofDiocesan Migrant and Refugee Services. The mural features Kilcrease and Nikki Diaz's grandmother Olga Chacon Diaz and her son Davy Diaz. The theme of the butterflies recurs in many murals through the city - with the thought being that the migrating butterflies bring only beauty. The Spanish words, "somos de aqui, somos de alla" translates to, "we are from here, we are from there", reminding people of El Paso's dual nature and history.
