"The art is what we make, the culture is what we are" ~ Gart Smits ~

Graffiti artist and beatmaker Gart Smits (aka Young Gary Tesla) combines his skills in two of his favourite disciplines of the HipHop culture: art and music. Gart initiated the "Art of the Culture" project to celebrate hip-hop culture and its artists.

He starts with making beats for rap artists that he loves to work with. Inspired by those beats, the rap artists write lyrics and then Gart records their song. In return, the lyrics will inspire Gart to design and create a mural in the rap artist's hometown.

To complete the story, a video clip is made for each track. The endresult of the upcoming series of collabs will be a unique album that exudes the collective love for the art of the culture, HipHop that is......
