Description

The façade of the recycling centre shows an oversized purple fish, embedded in a wave and numerous footballs.

The motif is a reference to a local legend: In 1497, a pike nearly six meters long with a golden chain was reportedly caught in the Kaiserwoog, a large lake in Kaiserslautern. The city's founder, Emperor Frederick II, is said to have released the fish into the lake as early as 1230.

The footballs are a reference to the city's famous football club 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The art work is part of a large-scale community project. There are numerous other motifs on the wall.
