The first artwork is the Gouzou with a ghost, created in September 2021 on a wall that had sealed off the entrance to the ruins of the Maison Schutzenberger. Four years later, the building’s new owner contacted the artist Jace to remove and preserve the artwork, and also to create another painting on the reverse side of the wall, depicting a pair of Gouzous, one helping the other climb up.
The work was temporarily exhibited in an exhibition dedicated to Banksy, held in an exhibition space called La Cave à Vin, just a few meters from the original location.
The wall’s final destination will be the courtyard of a bakery that will be built after the restoration work on the Maison Schutzenberger is completed.
