Created for the 5th edition of Un Grito Por El Agua

“El salto eterno, el viaje infinito” del cacique Guanentá, líder de pueblos de cultivadores, alfareros, de guerreros que se convertían en felinos, con la energía y la dureza de las rocas preciosas apuntaba su flecha, quien en un ultimo acto de su lucha y negando sus secretos y saberes a ambiciosas fieras del saqueo, se arrojó al Chicamocha para que sus brazos se convirtieran en alas, volverse cóndor que aun vigila estas montañas.

Esta quinta versión recorre Los Caminos del Río, un llamado a defender el agua, la vida y el territorio. Porque no importa dónde estemos: todas las aguas están conectadas. Defender un río es defenderlos todos. Cada quebrada, cada manantial y cada gota que corre libre lleva la memoria y la fuerza de la tierra que habitamos. Este año el grito resuena por el río Fonce, amenazado por la minería, el dragado y la maquinaria amarilla, y por todos los ríos de Santander que hoy luchan por seguir fluyendo.

“The eternal leap, the infinite journey” of Chief Guanentá, leader of villages of farmers, potters, of warriors who turned into felines, with the energy and hardness of precious rocks he aimed his arrow, who in a last act of his struggle and denying his secrets and knowledge to ambitious beasts of plunder, threw himself into the Chicamocha so that his arms would become wings, becoming a condor that still watches over these mountains.

This fifth edition explores the River's Paths, a call to defend water, life, and the land. Because no matter where we are, all waters are connected. To defend one river is to defend them all. Every stream, every spring, and every free-flowing drop carries the memory and strength of the land we inhabit. This year, the cry resonates for the Fonce River, threatened by mining, dredging, and heavy machinery, and for all the rivers of Santander that are fighting to keep flowing.
